March has come and gone. It has been a crazy month for the gang but we all survived and managed to get some games in! Here's what our March looked like.
Dale:
An Airport for Aliens Currently Ran by Dogs: This is a real game. I promise. It a fun little series of fetch quests given to you by stock pictures of dogs. Also, you and your fiancé are the last two humans on earth, so there’s that. Very funny, very short.

Tunic: This is a love letter to Zelda by way of the souls series. It’s almost unbearably charming. I cannot recommend this enough, and am loathe to say more for fear of spoiling anything.
Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands: This is the Reese’s peanut butter cup of D&D and Looter Shooters. Will Arnett, Andy Samburg, Wanda Sykes, and Ashley Burch all put in AMAZING voice acting performances here. I’m only about 10 hours in, but it’s already harkening back to the glory days of Borderlands 2. My only hope is that they can fix some of the bugs, especially since one of them has made multiplayer completely impossible.

Mel:
Banished: I got this game from a friend and I just cannot get into it. I love sim building games, but the game play is just too slow for my liking. I'm finding that I'm just waiting around for my town to get populated. It's almost too relaxing for me. I want things to blow up! I want fires to ravage my town or something! Yeah, this is just frustrating to play.

"I want things to blow up! I want fires to ravage my town or something!"
Vampire Survivors: This is my, "I don't know why I'm at this meeting. This has nothing to do with me," game. I can causally play while half-listening to whatever topic is going on.
Storybook Brawl: I'm trying to climb the MMR. I'm at like 1541, but I'm bouncing all over the place. One day I'm doing great and I'm rising in rank, then the next day I'm losing every, single, game. I found out recently that they got bought by a company that does NFTs. I'm not sure how I feel about yet, but I know the moment that NFTs are a part of the game, I will not be playing it any more.
Elden Ring: I KNOW! I said that I probably wouldn't like this game, but I got addicted. I play this game like no souls person would play it. I run in, find a mob, and slash my sword around like crazy. When I get to a boss that I'm not comfortable fighting or I've spent like 2 hours trying to kill, I'll just leave and go explore. AND THERE IS TONS TO EXPLORE. Don't get me wrong, the game is still hard as shit, but as a previous souls hater to newbie souls gamer, this is a pleasant surprise.
Oh , and I stopped playing Cookie Clicker!
Clay:
Vampire Survivors: This game just gets better and better. I finally got all of the achievements, and I think I finally have most of the combinations memorized. Mortaccio is my boy, and Song of Mana is invited to any party I ever throw for the rest of time because it is my best friends in the god damn universe. I could play this game forever.
Picture Cross: Hi, I'm 95 years old and play Picross. I found a free version on iOS and played approximately "way too fucking much" of it during my trip to Florida. Played it on all my commutes, flights, and fell asleep playing it most nights. So while I did drink, attend a wedding, and speak to folks from time to time while on vacation, I mostly uncovered little blocks that created an image of like...a shovel or whatever. God I love Picross. I love it so much. I am going to pause writing this to go beat a level. Alright, I'm back and beat three of them instead.
Elden Ring: Sometimes, a giant snake monstrosity ends up having a face that talks shit to you while yanking a sword that is covered in tiny arms out of its mouth. And sometimes you kick its ass so hard that you almost flip your desk in excitement. Other times, you die because you found a stray dog that had a bad fucking day. This game just doesn't stop disappointing.
"you kick its ass so hard that you almost flip your desk in excitement"
Vagrantsong: Board games are rarely innovative these days. This one is. It has gorgeous acrylic standees, genuinely engrossing combat, some of the best scenario driven gameplay I have ever seen, and is wonderfully charismatic in both its presentation and execution. This one might become a top 5 game of all time, and is easily the best board game I have played in the last year. Fucking amazing.
Brodie:
Elden Ring: Ok, killed 3 of the 5 shardbearers. Still taking time to explore and complete quests. This game is truly outstanding, one of my all time favorites. Went from Hammer bro to Starscourge boy with my double-wield Radhann build. Continuing to love everything here even when the game kicks me in the face and tells me to get better. On that note, going back after leveling/enhancing weapons is so satisfying. I've found some early-game bosses that I missed and I'm killing them in 2/3 hits. Honestly I think it's the only video game I've played in the last couple weeks for more than an hour. I am already struggling whether I should burn a larval tear to respec a couple of times or NG+ to buildcraft a little more. What a game.

Risk of Rain 2: Picked this and the expansion up for PC with the hopes of doing one of those bonkers huge player games. Already know this is going to be another delicious time sink. Since I last played they've added at least 4 new characters (if that shows how long it's been.)
Tabletop Roundup: Getting ready for vacation so we picked up a few new games. I'm very late to the party, the Sushi GO Party to be exact. This game seems like it'll be a lot of fun with a bunch of people. Also picked up Roam by Ryan Laukat. I definitely enjoyed this one too. Clever little area control puzzler with a bidding twist. Also plays very quick so it's easy to throw a bunch of plays down in a row. The little backstories on the explorers are pretty cute. Speaking of explorers, tried the app for Phil Walker-Harding's upcoming release of the same name and I really like this game. It does feel like Silver & Gold: the board game in a lot of ways, which I dig. I just really like his games, so I can't wait for the physical copy to arrive.
A very important person is missing from our log this month. However, if you want to catch up with Gannon and ask him questions about Elden Ring or Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin, join us on our SuperOK Discord! We can't wait to chat with you there. Until next month!
